The MAS in Dance Science celebrated its 10th anniversary with a symposium and a celebration. This programme was the first of its kind in continental Europe when it was established a decade ago. Now, in its sixth cohort, the programme has gained international recognition.
The anniversary celebration, held at the ZSSw Campus, brought together current and former students, lecturers, and guests. Speeches were given by programme leaders and alumni, and there were dance performances by current students and the "Seniorstars," a project that grew out of the MAS program. The event had a very positive and celebratory atmosphere, ending with a social gathering on the Piazza of the ZSSw.
The symposium, titled "Live to Dance – Dance to Live: Optimal dance training for professional performance and community well-being," focused on the connection between professional and amateur dance. PD Dr. Andrea Schärli, the programme leader, gave a keynote speech that used various studies to show the importance of optimized training for both professional dancers ("Live to Dance") and amateurs ("Dance to Live") to ensure a long and healthy dance career.
The event featured short talks on research in both professional and community dance, followed by a discussion on how to better apply Dance Science research in practice.
